Pilosio, a company that manufactures scaffolding and formwork for the construction industry has announced it has won an order worth around 1.5 million euros with the Italian construction company CMC of Ravenna which has operated for a long time in South Africa and has branches in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban.

Since 1961, Pilosio has represented Italian excellence in the production, sale and rental of building structure, like scaffolding, formworks for walls and slabs, trench lining for safety in excavation works, as well as structures for entertainment events, such as stages, grandstands and covered areas.

In detail, Pilosio’s structures, 70% of which will be tailor-made specifically for this site will be used for the construction of two imposing viaducts created with the “casting” system to avoid any interference with the traffic below. The dimensions will be 26 metres high by 947 metres long, and 18 metres by 443.

Pilosio will supply 200 sqm of P300 formwork for foundations and trusses, 500 sqm of special steel formwork divided into five sets for the construction of the viaducts’ pile shafts, an additional 350 sqm of special steel formwork made up of three sets for the construction of the pier caps, two sets of Maximix formwork and custom-made products for a total of 940 sqm, as well as the Omnimode shoring system with customized solutions for the creation of the suspended work platforms to be used in the installation phase of the roadway ashlars.

The special technical solutions and the onsite assistance guaranteed by Pilosio were decisive in winning the order.  In fact, Pilosio’s technical office provided a swift and high qualified response to the various critical areas of the construction site, the co-ordination with the various organisations involved in the project and the design of a special formwork system for the piles that could be adapted to two different sizes and for the roadways of the viaducts, optimised for the use of installation technology with buttresses.

Pilosio gives added value in its services by providing assistance for customers, both in Italy and around the world, offering a wide range of products that maintain high standards of safety and quality.

Luca Drigani, External Relations Manager says that at present they have a branch office in Durban, South Africa, and very soon they will be able to supply their products to all the Southern African countries, especially SA and Mozambique’s construction and the oil & gas industries.

He concludes and says that they would like to expand their presence in West African countries especially Ghana and Nigeria.
