The Ministry of Health in Mozambique has called for submission of interests for construction of Nampula General Hospital. According to the tender document, contractors to be considered are those from Arab countries and Africa or any partnerships between or among contractors from those regions.

Companies interested in the of Nampula General Hospital project should submit their interest by December 11 2014 to the ministry, addressed to the Managing and Executing Unit of Procurement 1008, Eduardo Mondlane Avenue.

The submission deadline for expressions of interest is Dec. 11, 2014.

Already, the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA) and Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) have provided credit to the government of Mozambique for construction of the said hospital.

The funding will go into purchasing of equipment and construction of the hospital, including setting up of 10 houses for the hospital staff. The hospital will cover an area of 14000m2, and will have capacity of 350 beds. 10 residential buildings will also be set up for doctors.

The Nampula General Hospital project will also include construction of 14 offices for outpatient consultations, an operating theatre with four rooms, an administration block, laboratory, pharmacy, x-ray rooms, inpatient wards, kitchen, laundry area and warehouse, a mortuary and guard house.

Contractors for the project will be shortlisted from Arab countries, Africa or a partnership of the two in accordance with the BADEA rules of procedure for procurement of goods and works.

Companies that are up for tenders for the project have been advised to submit a list of requirements for consideration. They also must have participated in civil construction with a turnover of not less than US$15 million in the past five years. Mozambique is also investing in construction of a major dam at Incomati River.
