Senvion SE has signed four new contracts totaling 45 megawatts (MW) of power with leading renewable energy developer Blue Energy. The deals relate to supply of wind turbines for Blue Energy’s Grange Wind Farm in North Lincolnshire, Kelmarsh Wind Farm and Winwick Wind Farm near Northampton and Chiplow Wind Farm in Norfolk.

These new orders represent the first contracts Senvion has signed with the UK developer.

Grange Wind Farm is located at Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire. The power plant will consist of six MM92 wind turbines with a total rated output of 12.3 MW. They will produce electricity capable of powering more than 6,500 homes.

Kelmarsh Wind Farm is located in Northamptonshire. Six MM92 wind turbines, four at 78 metre hub height and the remaining two at 69 metre hub height will be installed at wind power plant and will enable the wind farm to take full advantage of variable wind speeds.

Senvion will also look after maintenance of the wind farm for 20 years. Winwick Wind Farm will also consist of six MM92 wind turbines. Chiplow Wind Farm will involve installation of four MM82 turbines with a total rated output of 8.2 MW.

Construction/installation of the wind power plants is set to start at autumn 2015 and the wind power projects are is due for completion in spring 2016.

Chris Dean CEO of Blue Energy said: “The realisation of these projects is a significant milestone in the growth of Blue Energy.
