Liberia’s  National Housing Authority (NHA) in Liberia has commenced the construction work on phase III of NASSCORP Village Housing Estate in Brewerville, outside Monrovia. The project will result to additional 70 housing units in fulfillment of government’s mandate to provide housing for citizens across the country.

Since the construction and dedication of the phase II of the NHA housing project in Brewerville last year, there has been a great demand for housing.Prince Wreh, NHA Deputy Managing Director for Administration stated that the housing unit will aid in decreasing the hardships faced by the citizens to easily construct houses across the nation.

The NHA recognizes the partnership of the National Social Security and Welfare Corporation (NASSCORP) in providing the necessary funding to construct affordable housing units for Liberians. Besides, the procurement process for quality Liberian Contractors is currently ongoing with the hope of commencing phase III of the project before the rainy season begins.

Once phase III is completed containing the 70 housing units as suggestedthe estate will play host to 163 houses, comprising three and two bedrooms. However, President Sirleaf has brought a new dynamism to rebuilding public confidence in the NHA by the execution of its core mandate.

“At NASSCORP, we are in fulfillment of government’s mandate as to the demand for housing and with the NHA in that area, things are going on well,” saidDewitt Von Balmoos, Managing Director of NASSCORP.

Additionally, NASSCORP’s housing estate completion plan is prescribed by the NHA, adding that the sale of the houses is ongoing with huge demands from the citizens countrywide.Balmoos added that the company also has plans to construct schools and a Police station. At the moment aschool, hospital and a police station are already constructed at the housing units.
