Akari design and classical form are the foundations upon which the lamp collection of Erika Gülich and Arno Strack has been built for their Hamburg design company Akari-Design. “Before anything else, the lights have to fulfill their most important task: illuminate the room. In doing so, they must neither dominate the situation – nor make it boring. Function stands at centre stage – but not just in a physical sense, also in a psychological and emotional one,” said the two designers as they explained their concept.
For this reason they choose pure shapes and high-quality stainless steel in first class, handmade workmanship. By concentrating on the essential they highlight the special.
Their products include the artis table and stand lamps which are modern classics in timeless elegance. With its geometric lines, the cube illuminates the room very effectively. The push-button dimmer creates the desired lighting atmosphere. And stainless steel emphasizes its high-quality character. The ARTIS 44 table lamp is very sophisticated with a black leather base.
The toa is typical of the line of lamps embodying simplicity of form. This light is not only available in stainless steel, but, to fulfill the current demand for the lounge feeling, can also be had with the lamp base in oiled nut or wenge. The integrated dimmer again marks a return to the classically shaped rotary switch.
The Kyoto lamps continue the clear and reduced line of the collection in a consistent way, creating meaning out of simplicity in the world of Zen with clear form and empty space. With its matt-silvered surface, the Kyoto-frame table lamp prepares the ground for a new material to be adopted in the collection. At the Euroluce, they have supplemented the Kyoto series with the Kyoto floor stand lamp. These are just to mention but a few of their products.
