AVANCIS CIS technology is based on researching the thin, high-performance coating made from copper, indium, gallium and selenium (CIS). In 1998, AVANCIS became the first company in the world with commercial series production of CIS technology. AVANCIS has continuously developed CIS thin film technology in cooperation with companies like Siemens, Shell and Saint-Gobain. Since 2008, AVANCIS has been producing high-quality CIS solar modules as a 100 percent subsidiary of the global Saint-Gobain Group.

AVANCIS is focused on continuous technological progress and increasing productivity of its PV modules, developed in their R&D centre, tested in their tech centre and produced in their factory in Germany. Again, AVANCIS increased its last externally certified efficiency record and leads again the international efficiency ranking of encapsulated CIS thin-film modules with an aperture efficiency of 16.6 % (30 x 30cm module) officially certified by the NREL in January 2014.

The manufacturing of the CIS solar modules benefits from Saint-Gobain’s historical expertise in high technology in glass lamination, glass production and processing in the automotive and building sector incorporated within the Saint-Gobain Habitat Group. These glass competencies are vital within the PV industry and show the proven track of AVANCIS’ knowledge in these fields – with the advantage of invaluable synergies on a dynamically growing photovoltaic market and its trends towards building integrated PV (BIPV) such as in-roof solutions Taylor-made projects of different solar facades.

AVANCIS products features and advantages include: Standard PowerMax® SMART – for private and industrial PV installations (roof/façade), frameless module in pinstripes optic, perfect size (160 x 65 cm), high level aestethic design and excellent low light behavior

Susanne Häckel Project Assistant, says “Generally, PV products are becoming more and more important providing power opportunities in regions where they are most needed, and to handle the increasing energy prices and to get the freedom of energy autonomy. Additionally, the importance of PV also increases for building integrated PV modules because they are going to meet both aspects of PV – energy self-production with high efficient products and meeting the building individual design requirements and aspects at the same time”.
