Solar Frontier, a 100 percent subsidiary of Showa Shell Sekiyu K.K, develops and manufactures CIS thin-film (copper, indium, selenium) solar modules for customers in all sectors around the world. Reconciling economy and ecology which is a tremendous challenge to society, Solar Frontier offers energy solutions, which focus equally on both aspects. With gigawatt-scale production facilities in Miyazaki, Japan, Solar Frontier is able to deliver various advantages into every module. These include performance in low light conditions, higher resistance to power degradation in the heat of midday, a boost in power output following initial exposure to sunlight, and power under partial shading.

Besides its modules, Solar Frontier also offers optimized system solutions both for residential as well as for commercial rooftops. The optimized Solar Frontier Solar Sets for the residential rooftop segment are the first optimized PV systems including an inverter that leverages the benefits of CIS technology, cables and plugs. Ten different versions ranging from 2 to 8.2 kilowatt peak (kWp) perfectly fit for rooftops starting from 15.6m2 regardless of their orientation or pitch. Installers benefit from easy and fast ordering, save time as they do not need to configure the systems and can easily transmit the benefits of the Solar Sets to the end customers which leads to high output leading to higher savings in energy costs and appealing black aesthetics.

One of the unique features of Solar Frontier products that makes them suitable to Africa’s environment is the high temperature stability based on a lower temperature coefficient than crystalline silicon leading to higher energy output levels. Strong frame reinforcement tapered to resist sand and dust accumulation and durable construction assured by high quality Japanese manufacturing lead to stable and robust systems suited for extreme weather conditions.

Solar Frontier Europe which is also responsible for the African continent, has a wide spread distribution network across this region with ideal conditions for solar energy. A large reference portfolio ranging from residential to commercial rooftop installations shows the advantages that Solar Frontier’s CIS technology offers to the African continent.
