Kenya Savannah Cement plans to partner with local construction industry experts to provide solutions in the construction industry. The firm’s Managing Director, Ronald Ndegwa, says the company is willing to involve the local building and construction professionals in product development processes to ensure it delivers market driven products.

Addressing a Board of Registration of Architects and Quantity Surveyors of Kenya (BORAQS) Continuous Professional Development forum, Ndegwa, said the commitment, which is in line with global trends, could soon see the firm producing various specialist cement products, to meet the market demands for building & construction engineers, architects and quantity surveyors undertaking specific projects.

He disclosed that the firm has the necessary capacity to engage in practical research and development (R&D) initiatives and that such specialist products may include road paving, decorative, waterproofing and adhesive type of cements among others. The commitment to partner with professional groups is part of Savannah Cement’s market development strategy as it seeks to grow its local and regional market share.

As part of the strategy, Savannah Cement has already lined up development projects valued at more than US$300m including an investment plan to establish a clinker manufacturing facility and commission the second grinding plant at its production complex, near Kitengela Township, Kajiado County.

The Savannah Cement boss explained that the firm’s manufactured cement types; Savannah 32.5R and Savannah 42.5R are uniquely formulated to meet all building needs.

Already, Savannah Cement has invested more than US$100m to develop one of the most advanced and eco-friendly cement manufacturing plants in sub-Sahara Africa , located in Athi-River, 30km from Nairobi City in Kenya, with a 1.5million tons annual production capacity.
