Daniel Westin, product manager with Xylem, advises potential buyers that, Often their customers’ core business is not pumping, and sometimes they use whatever pump they have at hand, which may be too large or too small, leading to unnecessary cost. Bringing an expert on board at the beginning of the project will ensure that the right system is put in place and that it operates at an optimum level throughout the lifetime of the dewatering task.

Westin also commented on emerging product trends, “Advances in pump technology in recent years are more a result of technological developments rather than new materials. Hard iron and stainless steel, both used widely in pump manufacture, have been around for a long time. Improvements in dewatering pumps are due primarily to good hydraulic design and smart technologies which increase a pumps wear resistance and efficiency.”
