The aim of any tribological system, of any machine, is to deliver maximum output on a lasting basis –combined with a high level of energy efficiency. In relation to constancy of performance the attributes of
Sustainability and durability are the most important attributes for performance when operating a system to deliver maximum performance on a consistent basis.

REWITEC is an independent, medium-sized business that develops innovative nano- and micro-particle-based lubricant additives and markets these around the world. When applying the products from this Mid-Hesse-based company, treated machinery, internal combustion engines, gearboxes and bearings of every kind can run with great reliability and durability due to reduced abrasion, wear and emissions.

The possible uses for REWITEC products are hugely diverse and numerous. Since 2003, its lubrication technology experts have been supplying international companies, and partnering with maintenance and servicing firms in the wind turbine sector. The sectors in which REWITEC is active include above all the wind power, industrial, maritime and automotive sectors.
This medium sized business has particularly established itself in the wind power sector, in which it has become a market leader in its product area for sustainable wind turbine performance all over the world.

The effectiveness, especially when it comes to extending service life, is proven by years of practical use and scientific investigation. REWITEC also works with various lubricant producers and suppliers in producing lubricating greases in addition to its standard line of synthetic and mineral oil based product.

The company itself thus also markets special additive-enhanced oils and greases. “Conventionally seen, our technologies are additives for gearbox oils, engine oils and greases, which consist of a combination of up to seven different raw materials,” explains REWITEC’s chief executive. However, the way in which the lubricant additives work cannot be compared with conventional additives. In contrast to the well-known additives on the market, these substances are conveyed through oil or grease to the stressed metal surface where it initiates a chemical-cum-physical process.

Due to thischemical bonding, the rubbing metal surfaces gain a ceramic quality, producing a new, corrosion-resistant metal/ceramic surface. In the process, the material properties in relation to friction and wear improve appreciably, whereas the lubricant properties remain unchanged.

According to scientific investigations by the University of Gießen (Nanotribology Department), what occurs here is a kind of passivation of the surfaces, which prevents metal molecules being torn from the surfaces by adhesive friction. In the course of the experiments it was shown that with the REWITEC additive in the oil a very demonstrable and lasting effect occurs within a very short span of time.
In long term loading tests the Tribology Centre of Excellence at Mannheim University of Applied Science has also scientifically proven that through the use of REWITEC the level of friction reduces by up to 33%, the temperature by 20% and the surface roughness by 50%. Using differing lubricants, it was possible to achieve noticeable improvements in roughness and material properties.
