Egypt’s Housing Minister Mustafa Madbouly has unveiled to investors a proposal to build a  new Cairo City in the country  and reassured them that the city will be constructed to decongest the existing city of Cairo.
Unveiling the proposal in Cairo during Economic Development Conference for the new Cairo City the minister said they government is committed towards achieving its goal and towards attracting more investors in the country.
He added that Cairo has been the sole city in the country since AD969 and they are determined that will change in the new millennium and called upon more potential investors to pump their money toward the upcoming city that will have more opportunities once complete and while ongoing with construction.
Mustafa said there is need to speed up the project since the population of the country is steadily growing and  approximated that currently Cairo’s population is 20 million, with a projected rise to 40 million by 2050 thus bringing up the problems of congestion and pollution .

The new Cairo City, to be partially funded by the Emerati businessman behind the world’s tallest building, is tipped to be the new administrative and financial capital of Egypt. It would cover over 700 sq km, with a huge theme park and new airport.
The Minister hopes the new mega city could be completed by 2022. Its main function would be to house government departments, ministries and foreign embassies, with 21 residential districts, 663 hospitals, 1,250 mosques and churches and 1.1 million new homes.
