The Association of Ethiopian Architects (AEA) opened the 17th Annual Convention and Exhibition with the promise of better opportunities to architects and other professionals to release their potentials in design, contract management and others.

The opening which was held at Sheraton Addis saw many officials come together and discuss the current unethical practices in the construction industry as the body is expected to play a leading role in design and construction activities and to build upon integrity within the AEA among architects.

“It is highly expected from Association of Ethiopian Architects to struggle current unethical practices in the construction industry boldly, to play a leading role in design and construction activities and to build upon integrity within the AEA,” said the Urban Development, Housing and Construction State Minister Eng. Haile-Meskel insisted that the association has a huge contribution for transforming the national economy at large and tackling challenges hindering the advancement of the construction industry in particular.

“With the integrated efforts of you and other key players of the industry, the affordable housing programme became real and exemplary projects in the world stage. However, our housing programme is challenged with affordability and quality thus, the need for bringing new improved design and space planning to optimum level of quality and affordability,” said Eng. Haile-Meskel Tefera.

The Association of Ethiopian Architects is an umbrella organization that comes together to discuss various issues with respect to their profession, the demand of the construction industry and the complementary techniques. It is headed by President Wendwosen Demrew.
