Hilton Hawassa Resort and Spa in Ethiopia is set to join a portfolio of more than 70 Hilton Worldwide properties in Africa with its construction stated for 2020 in Ethiopia.

An agreement which was signed by Sunshine Business PLC and Hilton Worldwide has brought the Hawassa project to birth.

Senior Vice President of Development, Europe and Africa for Hilton Worldwide, Patrick Fizigibbon, confirmed the news and said that with Ethiopia’s known hospitality, Hilton Hawassa Resort and Spa will join Hilton Addis Ababa in offering world class service, in this rapidly evolving part of the country.

“With a further US$ 55m of government funding committed to delivering an airport for Hawassa by 2018, the future is bright for travelers to southern Ethiopia.”

Hilton Hawassa Resort and Spa in Ethiopia which will be built on a 30,000 square metre piece of land is estimated to cost US$ 42m and will constitute of 169 guest rooms, villas with outdoor swimming pools and spa complex which will be the centerpiece of the whole project.

Furthermore, the hotel will have a special restaurant and pool bar & grill. It will accomodate extensive meetings and events space, with more than 1000 square metre of ballroom and pre-function area, as well as a further six meeting rooms.

Hilton Worldwide is one of the largest hospitality companies in the world growing faster than ever, with more than 4,440 hotels, resorts and timeshare properties comprising more than 730,000 rooms in 97 countries and territories.
