Uganda’s National Housing and Construction Company NHCC is yet to construct an additional 160 housing units in Mbarara’s public housing in western Uganda; this is part of the current expansion plan.
The Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development Mr. Daudi Migereko represented the Prime Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda t recently launched the 160 unit housing estate dubbed Rwizi View Apartments comprising of two and three bedrooms projected for completion by the end of 2016.
“The new housing units will comprise of two and three bedrooms set for completion by the end of 2016,” Mr. Migereko said.
CEO National Housing and Construction Company, Parity Twinomujuni was delighted with the news and said that this initiative highlighted the beginning of NHCC’s path to Municipalities out of Kampala as this was the first major investment out of Kampala since 1979 that has been done by the company.
“Mbarara is a project that starts our journey to municipalities out of Kampala, we have goals for municipalities and will do at least 8 projects in the next 5 years,” said Twinomujuni
By the end of this year, National Housing and Construction Company will see the completion of the Namungoona Estates which have 196 units, the launch of the Naalya Pride Estates constituting of 386 units and the current Mbarara’s public housing having 160 units.
This initiative of the construction of the Rwizi View Apartments cost US$ 4.5m and is being funded by Uganda Development Bank Limited.
