Digital lifestyle telecom brand,Tigo has announced its plans to construction a datacenter in Senegal. This is part of its growth and investment strategy. The company strategy focuses on telecommunications, internet access and mobile services across the West African countries.

Plan Senegal Emergent (PSE)

Tigo intends to invest about US$5.2m in order to establish the new data center that will be used to provide digital services and last generation technologies. Other services will include financial services and video on demand. This will be in addition to online services and high speed dedicated internet access. The investment will be injected in the Senegalese town of Diamniadio’s infrastructure.

Tigo is optimistic when it comes to the ambitious strategy. The plan  fits perfectly within the framework of the Plan Senegal Emergent (PSE). The framework aims at positioning Senegal as a leader of the sub-region. The urban center of Diamniadio will also benefit from the datacenter strategy which will be available at the forefront of the PSE development projects.

The datacenter in Senegal will also provide a secure hosting solutions for businesses in the country. Tigo Senegal Chief Executive Officer, Diego Camberos, stated that the datacenter will play a role of a facilitator of exchange and storage of data. The datacenter is an optimization tool to accelerate performance for businesses.

Millicom

Millicom, Africa Zone CEO, Cynthia Gordon, has highlighted the project as part of the overall strategy of the group. Ms Gordon further revealed that the company has recently completed a datacenter in Chad.  The group is delighted to execute the same project in Senegal particularly through the innovative development technologies and digital services.

Over 35 countries worldwide and also individuals located in the U.S. and Canada  can securely reload/top-up/load Tigo prepaid cell phones of family members and friends in El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Paraguay and Bolivia.
