The health facility construction project is expected to kick-off in August this year. The State Insurance Company (SIC) Limited will supervise the execution of the health facility project. The project will be named after Bob Freeman, who was the first SIC Ghana manager.

Besides being a comprehensive diagnostic centre, the facility project will include the construction of medical waste processor, medical gas plant and all the major specialised medical departments.

Dr Robert Mills, SIC Health Services Chief Executive Officer, during the project launching in Accra revealed that the health facility will be equipped with a hyperbaric oxygen chamber as well as high-tech equipment. He further elaborated on the importance of a hyperbaric oxygen chamber as it will be used to treat carbon monoxide poisoning, burns, ulcers, diagnose of brain tumors and heart attacks.

The project is one of its kind in Ghana given that no hospital in the country has a hyperbaric chamber. However, one of the attributes that will distinguish the proposed hospital from others is the possibility for people to process appointment bookings online as well as choosing the doctors they prefer to engage with.

According to Dr. Mills the hospital construction project is expected to have been delivered and start operations by the middle of 2018.

Enraf Nonius Project General Manager, Rob Whitty, stated that the hospital will provide construction and project management, equipment installation and maintenance, a wealth of experience and international standards of design.

The range of service, quality and focus of the hospital project will offer unique and rare service not only in Ghana but in West Africa as a region. Additionally, the hospital will have presidential and VIP wards.
