French tracker specialist Exosun has partnered with Lesedi Nuclear Services, a leading South African power company to present the most localized tracking system in the region.

Western Cape-based Lesedi will be loaning its EPC, maintenance and technical resources to the joint venture.

Exosun has been progressively expanding its presence on the continent since the establishment of its Cape Town subsidiary in 2015.

The company has also been on the go in business development and working on its manufacturing capacity in sight of forthcoming projects in the popular Sub-Saharan region. This was started last year with Exosun’s first grid-scale project in Namibia.

It is this impetus on the continent that led the tracker vendor to expand through this joint venture into South Africa.

“After months of far-reaching research to develop the most excellent strategy in order to profit our prospects and patrons, we have found Lesedi to be a strong highly regarded industry stakeholder.

Our corresponding approach will make certain the victory of our clienteles” said François Ménard, Exosun’s CEO in a statement.

“Lesedi will convey the support needed to our clienteles and will make sure plant design, tracker manufacturing and installation of our single-axis tracker, offering to our clients the maximum feasible level of local content while also offering a very high level of BBBEE compliance.

Lesedi will offer all the services covering the full lifecycle of a PV plant project, guaranteeing the plant performance and customers’ success for the long-term,” he added.

“This is a planned partnership that will be complementary to Lesedi’s mounting market offerings in the renewable sectors in Africa and we will make sure we attain the highest degree of local content,” said Lesedi’s CEO Mr Francis Carruthers.

“Lesedi over the years has established that local content can be achieved across the full value chain of projects it’s engaged in and this affiliation with Exosun will realize the same again.”

In other news, Exosun currently launched two new innovations designed to optimize the levelised cost of energy (LCOE) of PV projects.
