The 8th annual Nigeria Alternative Energy Expo (NAEE) opened yesterday in Abuja at the Yar’Adua Centre with hundreds of delegates and participants across Africa and industrialized world.

Theme: The 8th Annual Nigeria Alternative Energy Expo has the theme tagged Liberating Economic Drive with Clean Energy. This year’s edition is one of our largest engagement reaching out to police makers, the industry and equipment manufacturers.

The Nigeria Alternative Energy Expo is the global investment meeting for Africa’s power, energy, and infrastructure and delighted as welcome public sector stakeholders, over 300 technology providers as well as 70 developers’ from 12 countries. Other exhibitors included Blue Camel Energy, a renowned solar power developer.

Sustainable Energy Professional Association of Nigeria

In his keynote address, the President of Sustainable Energy Professional Association of Nigeria, (SEPAN), Dr, Chidi Onuoha reminded participants that the annual gathering has gone beyond mere awareness creation to that of designing strategic focus driving the economy just as the oil and gas followed by the telecommunication sector did in revolutionizing Nigeria’s economy. Onuoha said that in this case, SEPAN is careful in see in that benefits meaningfully in reaping in mere investment but across the industry but strategically the industry’s total value chain.

This year sees the Forum hosted by Sterling Bank, Banking of Industry, Asteven and Blue Carmel where a large delegation from German based exhibitor, OA OsseBerger Hydropower leading the EU to this year’s industrial exposition.

This is why the NAEE is thus capitalizing on global investment potential and promoting Nigeria’s strong strategic market which is now being spearheaded by Sterling Bank Plc with 10 Billion Naira invest in the Clean energy sector is  a major sponsor of this year’s event.

Liberating Economic Drive with Clean Energy

Lawrence Edeh, Country Director, commented, “We are very excited to host the 8th NAEE to Abuja. The theme of this year’s event is “Liberating Economic Drive with Clean Energy”, in Abuja, will enable Nigeria’s growing number of power developers to showcase their businesses to decision makers of the world’s most prolific investment organizations from around the globe.

According to the Chairman  of the organizing Committee, Dr. Emmanuel Onyejeose the Nigeria Energy Award had a total of 32 Nominees but only 15 finalists emerged in recognition of pioneering efforts on good governance and/or leadership best global practices in energy sector and community initiatives. Large turnout of participants also included members of the diplomatic corps and the United Nations Development Programme, (UNDP).

New for this year’s event is NAEE’s showcasing Women in Renewable Conference, running alongside the Nigeria Alternative Energy Expo panel discussion women in new energy markets such as Solar, wind, Waste to energy, as economy opens up for international investment following political and economic developments.

The Clean Energy programme saw six emerging groups from The Nigeria Centre for Climate change exhibiting their technology from relevant disciplines to build relationships with industry leaders in the power sector.
