In line with its aggressive expansion programme in the Southern African and Indian Ocean Islands region, Goscor Lift Truck Company (GLTC), has appointed dealers in Mauritius and Botswana.

Spearheaded by its activities in Mauritius over the past 100 years, the family-owned Taylor Smith Group, which will distribute GLTC’s Crown, Taylor-Dunn, Hubtex and Bendi brands, is a dynamic organisation with a reputation for excellence throughout the industries in which it operates.

Based in Port Louis, the Taylor Smith Group, with its team of more than 850 people, is a well-known employer on the island, offering high standards of professional services across its wide range of diverse activities including financial, marine, manufacturing, geotechnical, logistics, distribution and much more.

Heba Capdevila Jangeerkhan, the group’s executive director for development & strategy, says she is delighted with the prospect of working with Goscor in the warehouse equipment market. “Their reputation and that of their world-leading brands is huge and I am sure of a very successful partnership going forward. They, like us, put customer service above all and this basic shared value is the foundation upon which we will blossom,” he said.

In Botswana, the new distributor is Wessels Hire – which trades as Coastal Hire – which has been in operation in Botswana since 1999. Located in Gaborone and with six branches country-wide, Coastal Hire specialises in the supply of construction equipment to the building, construction and mining industries.

Coastal Hire owner WP Wessels says that the Goscor Lift Truck range is a perfect fit for his company. “We are used to dealing with large capital equipment with our customers which include private, public, mining, construction and forestry companies. Many of Goscor’s products will fit nicely into this existing customer base and we look forward to extending into new areas like the traditional warehouse materials handling sector,” he says.

Wessels adds that Coastal’s centralised workshop in Gaborone has fully qualified mechanics who make sure customers’ machines are maintained to the highest levels to ensure the least possible downtime. “Technical service is crucial to the success of our business and our infrastructure in this regard is geared for the Goscor products,” he says.

Goscor Group GM for Africa, Randhir Haripersad, says he has confidence that Coastal Hire and Taylor Smith will make the grade in terms of its Goscor business. “Both companies are professional operators and understand how Goscor likes to do business. We look forward to a long and successful partnership with them both,” he says.
