The $85 million Elmina fishing harbour rehabilitation and extension project was completed and the facility was commissioned by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

The harbour is a major boost for the fishing sector in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) Municipality. It is the largest fishing harbour built in the Central Region, and it provides docking space and deep sea access to assure durability and sustainability.

The project’s construction work, which started 30 months ago, aimed to increase port accessibility. Additionally, it aimed to strengthen the fishing industry and stimulate tourism and the salt industry.
