Requiring additional office and board room space, a kitchen unit as well as male and female ablutions for its Zondereinde mine in Thabazimbi, Northern Platinum approached Kwikspace for a solution. Kwikspace delivered four single wide units, resulting in a 150 square meter office and boardroom, male and female ablution block units measuring 3 X 6 m each, and a small 3 X 3.5 m unit for the kitchen.

The kitchen was supplied already equipped with cupboards, sink and geyser, and all prefabricated units were supplied with split air-conditioning units. These were fitted on to the mine subsequent to the electrical connection installation, carried out by the mine’s onsite contractor.

The relocatable Kwikspace units are a permanent acquisition for the mine, and unit production and delivery was executed in under a month. The final order was submitted during March 2021, and the delivery executed the first week in April.

Although a relatively small order, delivery was staggered over three days. This was to help avoid congestion at site entrance, and to ensure ample manoeuvrability when placing the buildings.

“There was no tender for this project,” says Gerry De Beer, Senior Account Manager, Kwikspace, and we received the project based on work previously done for the mining house.
