Baptist Healthcare System Inc. recently celebrated the groundbreaking of its 120,000-square-foot health care facility named Baptist Health Breckenridge. This new health care facility marks the start of  Baptist Healthcare System’s development strategy  of investing upto  $1 billion in major outpatient facilities.

The Baptist Health Breckenridge facility will be owned by the McMahan Group who previously acquired the property for about $10.2 million, while Baptist Healthcare is investing $50 million to make use of the facility as long-term tenants. Other partner companies involved in the project include Jeffersonville-based TEG Architects; Louisville-based BTM Engineering and Abel Construction; and Triple M Investments, an affiliate of the McMahan Group of Louisville.

Located at 2800 Breckenridge Lane, which is just a few minutes’ drive away from the location of the Baptist Health Louisville campus; the Baptist Health Breckenridge  is a 5-story facility which will be built on a 6.5-acre plot, where the Breckenridge inn previously existed. The multi-phase project is expected to be completed over a period of two years.

Baptist Health Breckenridge is being developed with the goal of freeing up space at the Baptist Health Louisville campus, which will enable the hospital to focus on more high-level procedures and move the  relatively low-level procedures out of the hospital, to reserve hospital spaces for the most advanced healthcare needs and services. The new outpatient facility will have room for physician practices, an ambulatory surgery center, urgent care, physical and occupational therapy, imaging and laboratory services,  and  a retail pharmacy. According to Baptist Healthcare’s chief strategy and marketing officer, Dr. Jody Prather, the nonprofit hospital system will be creating the next generation of ambulatory care facilities through its $1 billion initiative.

The Louisville Mayor, Andy Beshear, commended Baptist Healthcare for their efforts and collaboration with the state towards meeting the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic. Beshear also described the Baptist Health Breckenridge as a beautiful new facility and he  said  the entire city was waiting in anticipation for the day it would become fully operational, with doctors and nurses and other professionals providing the very best health care.
