Richardson Barberry has obtained detailed planning permission for a £100 million development of eight warehouse units at a major North East business park. Durham County Council has approved the company’s plans for the first phase of development. It will include 830,500 square feet of warehouse/logistics space on 42 acres of the 116-acre Forest Park site.

Earthworks are scheduled to start on-site next year. Consequently, the park will provide 1.8 million square feet of industrial space over the next ten years. Thus, it will make Aycliffe Business Park the largest in the North East.

“Our Phase 1 Reserved Matters planning consent marks a major step forward for what is a massively important development for the region,” said Jonathan Robinson, Barberry Industrial Development Director.

“We are looking forward to getting started on one of the North East’s premier business parks. It will stimulate the economy and generate thousands of new jobs.” Consequently, we are in discussions with several occupiers who are interested in the North East business park scheme. We hope to share more good news in 2023. Forest Park is an extremely appealing location for a variety of major businesses.”

“The first eight units will be available in a variety of sizes ranging from around 37,000 square feet to 260,000 square feet.” Local, regional, national, and international occupiers have already expressed interest in this prominent, highway-connected, serviced, and consented site. Consequently, it is development-ready and has access to a highly skilled labor demographic.”

On the first plot at the site, Euro Garages has already built a roadside retail development that includes a petrol filling station, a convenience store, and a KFC drive-thru restaurant.
