Takoradi Airport is located in Sekondi-Takoradi, a city, and capital of the Western Region of southern Ghana. The airport has been in existence for over 6 decades serving as an airforce base and the primary shore base for helicopter transfer to offshore oil platforms in Ghana’s Jubilee Oil Field.

In 2019, the government of the Wet African country embarked on a project to expand the airport facility in a bid to enable it to take more domestic airlines. The project would also enable the airbase to give room to civilian passengers at least until when the region gets an alternative airport.

The project in question would include the renovation of the airport terminal building, expansion of the arrival/departure hall, and the oil and gas facility. The project is led by TonyDollyken Construction Limited.
