Egyptian firm to construct a US$ 30m sports complex in Kenya

Home Afrika has contracted an Egyptian company Wadi Degla to develop and manage a US$ 30m sports complex in Kenya at Migaa gated golf community in Kiambu County.

Property developer Home Afrika Managing director, Mr. Dan Awendo confirmed the news and said that the Egyptian company’s local subsidiary, Wadi Degla Kenya, has been contracted based on their expertise in building sports complexes.

“At the moment there are no Kenyan companies that specialise in developing clubs and Wadi Degla has immense experience in that industry,” said Mr. Awendo. This is the second sporting complex that the Egyptian company is building in Kenya after the Premier Sporting and Social Club located at Paradise Lost, off Kiambu road.

The sports complex at Migaa gated golf community in Kiambu will be constructed on a 775-acre piece of land.

During the ground breaking ceremony, Engineer Adel Samy, the President of Wadi Degla holdings, said that Migaa estate residents will have access to all the Wadi Degla facilities to be constructed.

“This development at Migaa will complement the healthy lifestyles for over 5,000 families that are initially set to live around this development once it is complete,” he pointed out.

The Egyptian firm also plans to put up a world class FIFA approved soccer field at Migaa in the latter phases of the project. The stadium will enable the smooth operation of the Arsenal soccer academy, while providing access to world-class facilities for local footballers.

“Our sports facilities are built to enhance the family experience, hence the creation of an all-encompassing sports and lifestyle element with professional management and staff,” he added.

Wadi Degla Holding has successfully created a bouquet of multifaceted operations encompassing everything from sports facilities, telecommunications, to real estate developments and industrial projects. The company is currently managing five clubs in Egypt that have football, swimming and tennis academies.
