The government of Kenya is, together with the Italian government has called for interested companies to bid for the construction of Migwani Water Project. The two have called for applications through the Kenya Italy Debt for Development Program and the Ministry of Environment, Water and Natural Resources through  Tanathi Water Services Board (TAWSB).

The bidders, who will have to adhere to Kenya’s Public Procurement rules and Procedures, will need to have registered with the National Construction Authority under category NCA 4 or above as water works contractors. They will also need to be registered with the Ministry of Environment, Water and Natural Resources under Class C.

Although the application deadline is 15th December 2014, the interested water contractors must visit the site (pre-tender site visit) on the 3rd of December 2014 at the Migwani Sub county Water Office in Kitui County at 1100Hrs.

In addition to having liquid assets/or credit facilities of no less than KSh 20,000,000, the water works contractors must not apply through joint ventures for the project. However, firms are allowed to subcontract construction works. Firms will also be required to pay 2% of the contract sum as amount accompanying the bids.

Construction for the Migwani Water Project shall involve equipping of one of the borehole, construction of 2 200m3 Masonry tanks, laying of a 15.2km G.I pipeline as rising main, 1.9km UPVC Class E pipeline, and other pipelines. 3 water kiosks will also be constructed at the site.
