Utah-based Overland Group has broken ground on a 22.6-acre mixed-use project known as the Avondale Commons project in Arizona. According to the developer, this project will be a vibrant mix of four apartment buildings, two restaurants, and a hotel. What’s more, the project also adds four medical office buildings and a retail component to the areas.
The Avondale Commons project is taking place at the northwest corner of Avondale Boulevard at 1165 McDowell Road in Avondale. This location is just north of Interstate 10, which makes it easily accessible for professionals and their clients. Additionally, it also provides access to housing, employment, hospitality, and retail amenities all under the same project site.

Development plans for the Avondale Commons project
The developer is already constructing the first portion of the four-building medical office section for the Avondale Commons project. This medical office complex will span 39,650 square feet and its delivery date is set for Q2 of 2024. Furthermore, the project also provides other office spaces and a retail component, which the developer expects to finish in 18 months. The office setting’s design will incorporate modern, four-sided architecture, with highly visible monument signage on McDowell Road and Avondale Boulevard.
On the other hand, the residential portion of Avondale Commons is due for delivery in the next 30 months. Shortly after, the developer will start working on completing the hotel and conference facilities for the project. Each of the four Avondale apartment buildings will be four stories high and accommodate 320 units in total. Meanwhile, the hotel will consist of 96 rooms and the developers will name it Atwell Suites.
The apartments at Avondale Commons will include 292 stacked flats and 32 townhome-styled units, ranging from one to three bedrooms. Residents will have access to a swimming pool with a kitchen and gathering area, pickleball, and bocce ball courts. In addition, the residential components will include a fitness center, theater room, playground, and garage parking spaces.
