The South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professionals (SACPCMP) is set to host its fourth annual project and construction Conference.

Following three successful conferences, the 2016 event promises to offer delegates a comprehensive look at burning issues in the project and construction management sector.
The three-day event will take place at the Sandton Convention Centre from 26-28 October 2016.

The conference will be preceded by Master Class and Ask the Expert sessions on the 26th of October and these are the technical and focused components of this forum.

The Conference will be addressed by thought leaders from leading private sector institutions, public sector infrastructure development agencies, renowned Built Environment academics and bodies, voluntary associations, to mention a few.

On the 27th of October, the Minister of Public Works, Minister ThulasNxesi, will launch a Presidential Forum which will include the SACPCMP President and Presidents of all SACPCMP Voluntary Associations.

This Forum will be primarily established to coordinate efforts of both the public and private sector in promoting the use of registered professionals to reduce project overruns in infrastructure development and protect public interests; coordinate public and private sector efforts that contribute to developing and growing the sector; and assist in driving joint transformation initiatives.

On 28 October the Conference will see an Ambassadors session. Ambassadors from Kenya, Uganda and Namibia will outline developments in infrastructure development in each of their respective countries.

“The Conference has grown in popularity since its inception in 2013. In order to ensure that we have a safe South Africa, in terms of construction, we need to put checks and balances in place and to register professionals in the project and construction management space. This is precisely what this conference aims at achieving.

Come and add your voice to the transformation and health & safety debates and add to the pool of knowledge that exists,” says NomvulaRakolote, the Registrar at SACPCMP.

Hosted under the theme “Towards growth, development and transformation in the Project and Construction Management Professions”, the conference is a pre-eminent learning gathering aimed at creating a collaborative and working partnerships for the development and maintenance of infrastructure in South Africa.

Some of the deliberations will focus on opportunities for professionals and the industry as outlined in the Nine-Point Plan which was unveiled by the President of the Republic of South Africa, Mr Jacob Zuma, in his 2015 State of the Nation Address.

Highlights will include massive infrastructure investments of the private sector, both in fully funded private sector initiatives and Public Private Partnerships.
