Sellafield Ltd has awarded the remaining term of the Infrastructure Strategic Alliance (ISA) to Morgan Sindall Infrastructure and Arup. The ISA is an alliance uniting Sellafield Ltd, Morgan Sindall Infrastructure and Arup that offers programme of infrastructure schemes for Sellafield Ltd’s aging asset portfolio.

The Infrastructure Strategic Alliance is part of a number of long-term strategic supply agreements placed to the Sellafield Ltd acquisition strategy. The ISA is in charge of a £1.1 billion contract to offer essential infrastructure assets to the nuclear site in Sellafield which was earlier awarded in 2012. In the last nine years, the contract has played an important role in supporting the Sellafield Ltd goal, as well as providing socio-economic welfare across Cumbria.

Infrastructure Strategic Alliance (ISA) Opportunities

The managing director for Morgan Sindall Infrastructure, Simon Smith stated: “Securing the term and extension to the Infrastructure Strategic Alliance contract, is another amazing opportunity for the Morgan Sindall Infrastructure. “Alongside the duty on the partnership of Programme and Project Partners, which is also being offered on the Sellafield area, we can go on working with local organisations and the community to help develop sustainable local economic growth. Creating greater opportunities for the coming generations as part of the commitment to being a caring business.”

Jim Johnson, Arup’s digital leader for UK, India, Africa and Middle East,, added: “We are committed to conserving a positive presence wherever we work and as such we look forward to continuing to play a significant role in supporting the local economy in the comming years.” The Infrastructure Strategic Alliance work is primarily set for utility assets like electricity, water supply and compressed air, civil infrastructure, bulk chemical storage and distribution, the site’s drainage networks and other facilities including bridges, roads, car parks and general buildings. Also included are some non-utility assets like analytical services facilities, flask maintenance plant, transport systems and emergency management systems.
