According to Boshomane, building began in the first quarter of 2021, and much work has already been completed on the ground, and the two practise fields.

He went on to say that the facility would help to expand softball in the province by providing young aspiring softball players with the opportunity to play in a world-class facility.

South Africa’s Softball president Mashilo Matsetela, as well as representatives from the Polokwane Municipality, the South African Department of Sport, and LSA executives, recently visited the building site to check on progress.

Manthlako Sebaka, the municipal sport and recreation manager, expressed satisfaction with the building site’s development. The structure’s pillars have been constructed. The placement of stormwater pipes and column pillars is also specified. Overall, the manager has stated that there is good progress in the project’s development, and it should be complete by the projected deadline.

He emphasised that once completed, the facility will assist the province’s softball association. “Softball was invented in Limpopo, and the new facility will undoubtedly aid in the expansion of the sport in the region.” Manthlako further stated.

Matsetela expressed satisfaction with the improvement and expressed a wish to host international matches. “Right now, everything is going swimmingly. We are looking forward to its completion since it will be a world-class facility capable of holding international and national competitions.”

According to municipal spokesperson Matshidiso Mothapo, the Polokwane’s softball stadium will help the municipality’s goal of presenting Polokwane as a world-class sporting destination.
