The Salt Lake Community College Juniper Building project has officially been awarded to Big-D Construction in Utah. The new campus building constructed on 90-acres of land will provide access to residents of Riverton, Herriman, Bluffdale, and Draper. It will also serve over 2,000 students in the first year and nearly 7,000 in the next 4 years. Big-D outbid four other companies through the state process to obtain the winning construction contract and has previously worked with the college on other projects including the Westpointe Workforce Training and Education Center at Westpointe Campus and the Center for Arts and Media at South City Campus.

Funding for the building was appropriated by the Utah State Legislature in 2021, with additional support from SLCC, private donors, the University of Utah, and infrastructure investments from Herriman City. The campus will offer degrees in high-demand fields, including nursing, computer science, business, and information systems, social work, and teacher licensure in elementary, secondary, and specialized education. Essential student services for both schools will also be available, including admissions, advising, financial aid, disability support, transfer support, and tutoring. “This partnership between SLCC and the University of Utah will help maintain the state’s high quality of life. Education allows people to build prosperity and a bright future for themselves and their families. This new facility will play a key role in making college more accessible to those who call this area home,” said the Salt Lake Community College President, Deneece Huftalin.
“The Juniper Building at the Herriman Campus is coming just in time to help meet the demand for education and employment created by the incredible growth in the southwest area of the Salt Lake Valley. The University of Utah and Salt Lake Community College have long worked together to support student success.
