Infrastructure and utilities is considered critical to Zim-Asset and the new road network is expected to help in improving the economy of the two districts being linked by the road.

According to Mphoko, the road construction project is part of the Government’s initiative to constructing and renovating 1100km of main roads in the country for the next three years.

Mphoko further noted that the remaining 8km stretch, which will require a total spend of US $3.5m, will be completed later. Relevant ministries will be consulted so that that amount for this road construction project can be included in the 2016 budget allocation.

The local communities were advised to avoid vandalism of road signs to prevent occurrences of accidents. Elsewhere, Bulawayo has announced that it is in need of U.S$115mn for roads rehabilitation in the city.
