Bidding has began for a private sector partner on Edinburgh BioQuarter transformation scheme to widen its research buildings and homes. Edinburgh BioQuarter has officially launched a public procurement process for a private sector partner. The chance to develop a £1bn health innovation district which will offer jobs, homes, and a community for Edinburgh residents has attracted interest from parties across the world.

The Edinburgh BioQuarter £1bn transformation scheme, located in the south of Edinburgh city centre, a distance of around three miles is set to cost around £140m annually to the Scottish economy in the coming decade. Almost 13,000 people will get decent jobs from the £1bn transformation scheme while supporting over 200 health innovation companies. In coming days, there is the chance of growing to a health innovation community of 20,000 with 2,500 residential units on the region. BioQuarter is set to get £550m of discounted capital investment, growing 4,310 jobs in construction.

Amazing investment and collaborative opportunities.

EBQ3 Ltd has been created between the regional development agency Scottish Enterprise, City of Edinburgh Council and the University of Edinburgh to help in the private partner procurement for the proposed strategic joint venture partnership. The programme led by public sector also consists of major stakeholders NHS Lothian, an important partner in the innovation ecosystem, which has its two acute hospitals situated on site.
