Despite a recent request by developers for building-permit extensions and construction period extensions, the development of numerous properties on the Worthington Gateway project construction at West Wilson Bridge Road and North High Street, Ohio, is still on pace for completion in March 2022. During the December 2 board of zoning appeals hearing, Worthington Gateway developers requested building-permit extensions for three 1- to 2-story retail and office structures along West Wilson Bridge Road, with current permits scheduled to expire. These are the addresses 105, 89, and 71 W. Wilson Bridge Road. Despite the request for a construction extension, building on those homes is still planned to be finished in March 2022, according to Moment Development founder Ohm Patel.

The Worthington Gateway project construction is the result of a collaboration between Moment Development and the development firm Witness Group. In September, developers asked for a building permit extension on the other West Wilson Bridge site, 53 W. Wilson Bridge Road, alleging delays in the purchase of construction supplies owing to the epidemic. Developers sought a one-year extension on their building licenses, according to Worthington planning and building director Lee Brown. According to him, building permits in Worthington are originally valid for 18 months.

“The prolongation is primarily a formality.” “Those four structures along West Wilson Bridge are under construction,” Patel remarked. He went on to say that after these four West Wilson Bridge properties are roughly half-finished, contractors will shift their focus to the 10,000-square-foot retail and office facility off North High Street, which is scheduled to open in late spring or early summer 2022. He also stated that developers are still in negotiations with potential tenants for several leases on the Worthington Gateway site, which is located across the street from the Shops at Worthington Place mall at 7227 N. High St. and is planned for redevelopment into the mixed-use High North project by developers Direct Retail Partners.
