Two architecture companies, Narrowminded Architects and BOM Architects have teamed up and presented a proposal that will see one of Morocco’s busiest and oldest bus terminals, Marrakech Central Bus terminal revamped.

According to Archdaily, the proposed is part of an international competition and seeks to solve the functional inefficiencies of the terminal. However, in its quest to address the increasing traffic congestion and to match the modern designs that other Africa’s best tourist destinations boast of, it is widely expected that Marrakech will adopt the new Marrakech Central Bus terminal proposal by the two companies.

The architects found that obsolete infrastructure was one of the biggest hindrances to efficiency and advancement at the terminal.

Ochre city is keen to meet the needs of passengers, as well as the international standards of design, and after renovating the Marrakech international airport, a new modern bust station is likely to be the next on cards.

The new design for Marrakech Central Bus terminal, according to Archdaily, places importance and focus on ease of transport flows and creation of a vibrant, green pedestrian path that links the infrastructural compounds.

The new site will have three terminals in compliance to the Moroccan construction culture and specificities. The new Marrakech Central Bus terminal will have its volumes use rough concrete and red-tinted roofs.
