Rwanda is set to start construction of a multimillion park in its capital, Kigali, in a bid to transform the city’s landscape following ground breaking ceremony for the project. The new development will be occupied where the former Kigali City Park was, near Kigali Golf Course.

Rwanda’s Minister for Infrastructure, Mr. James Musoni and Kigali’s Mayor Mr. Fidele Ndayisaba led others in a ground breaking ceremony. The venture will constitute construction of high end apartments, and will host a five-star Sheraton International Hotel, home villas, up-market apartments and other facilities.

Century Park Ltd is the firm behind the park construction project. Director of Century Park Ltd, Hatari Sekoko, has also said everything is set for start of Phase 1, which is estimated to take 2 years to complete. “Everything is in place for the commencement of the first phase, which will encompass 16 villas, two apartment blocks and an exquisite hotel. These establishments will be used to test the viability of the rest of the project,” he said.

According to Mr. Hatari Sekoko, the park will be constructed in phases. The first phase is projected to cost US$ 7m while the second will cost around US$ 200m and the whole project is anticipated to be complete in the next four to six years. Phase 2 will take four to six years. The park construction project will be carried out on a 9.6 hectares piece of land.

This mega project will be of service to all the citizens and tourists as it will be located near Kigali International Airport for easily accessibility.

Century Park Ltd, an establishment in Rwanda is has recently been involved in the construction of Kigali City Tower and Marriot Hotel- which is under construction at the moment. Protea also annoucned last year that it would build a five-star hotel in Rwanda at a cost of US$ 22m.
