Earlier in the year The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) said it would have to spend about US$6 million to rebuild 12 towers and rehabilitate another one lost to a fire between Sapele and Ughelli in Delta State.

More recently reconstruction of a transmission by-pass to temporarily replace a destroyed 132kV transmission line from Tegina to Kotangora, Niger State has started.

The four transmission towers were destroyed as a result of heavy rain at Corner Mariga after Tegina, Niger state, causing power outage in the area.

In a statement disclosed by Mr Dave Ifabiyi, The Transmission Company of Nigeria  (TCN) Assistant General Manager (Public Affairs) said the company had mobilised to the site to construct the transmission line.
