The construction work on the 10,000 housing units in Nigeria for the civil servants in Lugbe South the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)  has commenced. The project is under the sponsorship of Chicason Group as the Rock of Ages Properties limited heads as the developer for the project.

However, 3000 houses are expected to be completed and put to use by March 2016, this is according to Chief Chika Okafor, the Chicason Group Chairman. He further clarified that his company is responsible of delivering the 3000 housing units while the remaining 7,000 housing units will be delivered by the Trade Union Congress (TUC) given that the union is the major project partner.

In reference to Mr. Adike Chux, Chicason Group, Executive Director, the united workers housing scheme are currently working on plots 301 and 302 of L22 Southern Lugbe of the phase IV FCT development which has involved the Nigeria Customs Service and ECOWAS.

Other supporters of the housing units in Nigeria in terms of finance include the Nigeria Mortgage Refinance Company Plc, the Federal Mortgage Bank Nigeria, Trusts Bond Mortgage Bank among other banks. Chicason Company is also working with the Development Control of the FCDA to avoid the use of substandard materials.

The housing units in Nigeria are divided in to 12 different categories that will be convenient to afford made up of 2 bedroom flats to 3 bedroom flats and workers section. Those interested in owning the houses will be required to make equity contribution according to the referred house type. However, the contributors to pension and National Housing Fund are automatically qualified to apply for the houses.
