Construction works on the Ajah reinforced concrete flyover in Nigeria is in progress. Lagos State Government approved the project and awarded the contract to Messrs Hitech Construction Company Ltd to deliver the project.

On completion the bridge is expected to alleviate the traffic gridlocks which has been experienced by the Ajah motorists and even those in the neighborhood. According to a statement signed by Engr. Ganiyu. A. Johnson, Commissioner in the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, vehicles will not be allowed to use the Ajah round about.

The traffic management has provided available diversion/alternative roads following its strategy to minimise the effects of the road closure on motorists during the construction period. The traffic management has constructed a 2-lane dual carriageway running between the existing carriageway of the Eti Osa/Lekki-Epe Expressway. The fence of the Royal Garden Estate shall serve as the main diversion in both directions.

The management has also issued closure of the Ajah intersection notice. Motorists and other road users are therefore advised to use any of the provided diversion roads. The following routes are the official diversions issued by the management.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTE OUTWARD LEKKI SCHEME 1 INWARD AJAH ROUNDABOUT:
i. Turn off Eti Osa/Lekki-Epe Expressway at Ilaje Bus Stop, on to Mobil road to connect the road network within Lekki Scheme II to Ogombo road and return to the Expressway at Abraham Adesanya roundabout.
ii. Turn off at Ikota 1st Gate Bus Stop on to Gbola Gas road after Mega Chicken to link Mobil road, connect the road network within Lekki Scheme II to Ogombo road and return to the Expressway at Abraham Adesanya roundabout.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTE OUTWARD ABRAHAM ADESANYA ESTATE INWARD AJAH ROUNDABOUT:
i. Turn off Thomas Estate road to Kemfat road after Ajiwe Police Station on to Modupe Young Street to connect Ado-Badore road.
ii. Turn off St. George road beside PHCN Substation on to Modupe Young Street to link Ado-Badore road.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTE OUTWARD ADO-BADORE ROAD INWARD AJAH ROUNDABOUT:
i. Turn off Ado-Badore road to link Market/Aiyetoro road and connect Eti Osa/Lekki-Epe Expressway at Berger Bus Stop/Ikota Junction.

However, Lagos State Government has appeals for caution and cooperation from all road users by obeying all traffic rules and regulations as well as ensuring a free flow of traffic during the project construction period. The state government has as well directed all relevant agencies to ensure free flow of traffic and regrets any inconvenience.
