East & Central Africa Roads & Rail Infrastructure Summit is about Creating Jobs, Promoting Connectivity, Fostering Unity and Growth.

Regional and international stakeholders for East and Central Africa’s transport infrastructure sector will be gathering once again at the 8th East & Central Africa Roads & & Rail Infrastructure Summit 2017 to be held on September 19-20 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Hon Prof Makame M Mbarawa, Minister of Works, Transport & Communications of the Republic of Tanzania, will be delivering the Opening Address at this Summit.

This eighth Summit will bring together government authorities, railway and highway operators, major end- users and international investors to discuss the current pipeline of projects in the two regions, mobilize investment in this sector, identify bankable projects, promote public-private partnership, fast track key enabling frameworks, and evaluate the latest technical expertise and technologies critical to supporting the booming economies in this rapidly developing corner of Africa.

Fresh updates on the major infrastructure projects in the East and Central African region including the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) project in Kenya, Tanzania and Ethiopia; the BRT Project in Kenya and Tanzania, major roads projects and various Transport Corridor projects will be presented and discussed. The Summit will also table the New Urban Cable as the new element of transport infrastructure.

In addition, industry experts will also share their insights on investment risks, bankability, PPPs, transport modelling and real-time traffic management.

The two-day event will also showcase on-site exhibitions including: real-time model to predict traffic situation in the network from PTV Group; Geo-synthetic innovations to ensure soil stability from GEA /NAUE; and customized rolling stock for the coal, iron-ore, intermodal, agricultural, fuel and cement industries from Transnet Engineering. The 8th East & Central Africa Roads & Rail Infrastructure Summit 2017 is proudly endorsed by the Tanzania Ministry of Works, Transport & Communications. The CEO of the conference-organizing company, Magenta Global Pte Ltd, Singapore, Maggie Tan, added:

“According to World Bank estimates, Africa needs to spend $38 billion more each year on infrastructure plus a further $37 billion on operations and maintenance just to sustain its current level of development. This urgency is recognized by all the progressive leadership of the Governments in the East & Central Africa regions. The active involvement of the private sector has been top priority. Public Private Partnership will be key to delivering sustainable transport mobility and connectivity.” Ms Tan encouraged all companies and organizations to contribute to the development of this sector by being part of this key event.
