Construction works for Australia’s Coomera Connector Stage 1 Project have been reported to progressing exceptionally. The road stretch, also known as Queensland’s second M1, is situated between Nerang and Loganholme. In a nutshell, the state-controlled north-south transport corridor will serve as an alternative to the M1. This, in turn, is said to contribute to the provision of additional transport capacity.
In total, Australia’s Coomera Connector Stage 1 Project is about 45 kilometers. Its development has been sectioned into the northern and southern sections. Furthermore, the latter includes Stage 1 North, Stage 1 Central, and Stage 1 South. Thus far, official reports noted that the Queensland Government provided $755 million in funding towards the road development. Thereafter in March 2023, the project began its main construction works.

Australia’s Coomera Connector Stage 1 Project Major Milestone
According to a press release, Australia’s Coomera Connector Stage 1 has received the arrival of a 48-meter-long piling barge. The equipment got delivered from docks at Murarrie in Brisbane, with arrival on the Coomera River. In a nutshell, the piling barge will greatly contribute to the construction of the approximately 1-kilometer Coomera River bridge, which is part of the Stage 1 North section. The Federal Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, and Local Government revealed that the delivery of the second M1 will support well up to 1000 direct jobs.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk, while speaking about the $2.16 billion project said that it will potentially transform travel to and from the Gold Coast. Moreover, The barge will be made use of, to build a temporary jetty, along the northern banks of the river.
