The Stockinbingal to Parkes Inland Rail project has reached a significant milestone by initiating major construction activities on its Stockinbingal to Parkes section. To celebrate this pivotal moment, Inland Rail hosted a launch event at Forbes Railway Station. Marking the initiation of substantial construction efforts following meticulous planning, engagement, and design processes.

The Inland Rail project is Australia’s largest freight rail initiative, improving connectivity for businesses to national and global markets. It promises to create new prospects for Australian industries and regional communities, both during the construction phase and beyond.

Transforming Freight Connectivity: Stockinbingal to Parkes Inland Rail Progress

The Australian Government has adopted a phased approach, prioritizing construction between Beveridge in Victoria and Parkes in New South Wales by 2027. This completion will enable Inland Rail to connect to existing rail networks, linking major cities via Parkes and Narromine.

Martinus Rail has been awarded a significant contract worth $403.5 million. Their task involves designing and executing enhancement works on both the Stockinbingal to Parkes and Albury to Illabo sections of the Inland Rail.

The Stockinbingal to Parkes works include bridge upgrades and track lowering in Forbes, essential for double-stacked trains’ clearances. Furthermore, they will construct an additional crossing loop at Daroobalgie. Notably, the project has received recognition for its dedication to sustainable design practices and has earned an ‘Excellent’ Design rating from the Infrastructure Sustainability Council.

Rebecca Pickering, the interim chief executive of Inland Rail, emphasized the importance of commencing works on the Stockinbingal to Parkes section as a key milestone. She highlighted the project’s strong engagement with local suppliers and businesses across regional New South Wales. Emphasizing the positive impact on local economies as a result of these construction efforts.

The Inland Rail program has awarded contracts worth $2.7 billion to over 400 suppliers and businesses across the nation. Benefiting local businesses between Albury and Parkes and supporting regional job growth. Treaven Martinus, the chief executive of Martinus Rail, expressed pride in the company’s role in enhancing this critical infrastructure. He emphasized the project’s significance for Australia’s freight industry, marking a step toward a more connected and prosperous future.
