Yobe State Government plans to complete the construction of the Trans-Saharan road project in Nigeria, the Governor’s office has confirmed.

The road construction project covers a total length of 300km.

The Trans-Saharan road project in Nigeria is expected to facilitate commercial activities between Yobe state and its West African neighbouring countries.

The international road is a construction project that passes through the desert in eight  areas of Yobe state will serve over 200 communities who are engaged in farming, livestock rearing, fishing and other economic activities.

The road construction project in Nigeria also links 4 council headquarters of Geidam, , Karasuwa, Yusufari, Yunusari and Machina, a border town with Niger Republic. Nevertheless, Governor Ibrahim Gaidam has built several roads in his tenure which includes Kaliyari-Bayamari-Gaidam, Gaidam-Bukarti, Potikum to Garin Alkali, Maiduwa-Gadaka, Bayamari-Yunusari, Jajimaji-Karasuwa and Potiskum-Danchuwa.

Governor Gaidam also made a greater impact in the State development through construction of roads and drainages at Damaturu, Potiskum, Gashu’a, Nguru and Gaidam. However, Dapchi headquarters of Bursari LG will soon be aligned among the progressive projects to move the State forward and increase its economic growth.
Despite the prevailing economic and security challenges several road projects are presently in good progress, such as Damaturu-Buni-Yadi Madgza road which is 70km in length and Gadaka-Siminti-Godowoli.
