The Osisioma Interchange and Aba-Owerri Road projects were officially opened in Aba on Monday by Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike.

Speaking at the event, Wike said the Osisioma Interchange and Aba-Owerri Road projects demonstrated the Abia State Government’s dedication to transforming the state and enhancing the welfare of its residents.

He said, “Although Abia does not get a significant amount of funding, your perseverance has made this initiative possible. I congratulate you for these accomplishments, which have left the state government’s mark on history forever. I want to implore you to work for the people of Abia till your last day in office.”

Wike claimed that he only hung out with those who had something to contribute, such as Okezie Ikpeazu, rather than those who had nothing to offer.

Wike called Abia Governor Okezie Ikpeazu a trusted ally and noted that Ikpeazu had demonstrated his ability by bringing dividends of democracy to the people of Abia.

Aim for the Osisioma Interchange and Aba-Owerri Road Projects

Ikpeazu stated in his speech that the Osisioma Interchange and Aba-Owerri Road projects were initiated to address the problem of commuter congestion around the Osisioma junction.

According to Ikpeazu, the goal of governance and government is to improve people’s lives and change their socioeconomic narratives. He said that the initiatives would significantly advance the state’s a trade and commercial sector. Furthermore, he prayed that the flyover would inspire other developments.

“Before the interchange was built, travelers would sit in gridlock at this intersection for two to three hours. Therefore, we decided to build the interchange in order to address the traffic issue here.

“The goal of government is to solve people’s issues. As a result, one of the things I enjoy most is the power you gave me to bring about change.

“I praise God that despite all the difficulties, we have been able to resolve this issue in Osisioma,” Ikpeazu added.

Bob Ogu, the commissioner for the Ministry of works Abia state, said that the Osisioma Interchange and Aba-Owerri Road projects were conceptualized by the current administration in 2015 and that building work started in 2017.

Ogu continued, “More projects focused on the people will be carried out before the end of 2023.”
