The model for the proposed Za’abeel district cooling plant in Dubai has officially been unveiled. The model was unveiled by the Emirates Central Systems Corporation (Empower). This took place during the 24th Water, Energy, Technology, and Environmental Exhibition (Wetex). 

According to the model, the Za’abeel district cooling plant will operate with a production capacity of 50,000 refrigeration tonnes (RT). Moreover, it will be connected to Empower’s International Financial Centre in Dubai. As a result, it will bring the total production capacity to well about 112,000 refrigeration tonnes.

Additionally, the facility will feature advanced Thermal Energy Storage (TES) systems. The systems will ensure enhanced energy efficiency during peak hours.

Expectations for Dubai’s Za’abeel district cooling plant

Upon completion, the cooling plant will be connected to Empower’s Dubai International Financial Center plant. It will serve an additional array of both upcoming and existing real estate projects. These include the Emirates Towers and the One Za’abeel tower. Additionally, the Za’abeel district cooling plant will serve the Wasl1 mega project alongside the Dubai World Trade Center.

During the briefing on the plant’s model, the CEO of Empower spoke about the project. Ahmad bin Shafar said that the project belongs to a new generation of district cooling plants. More especially, cooling plants that make use of as well as incorporate artificial intelligence solutions.

Additionally, the Za’abeel district cooling plant will be equipped with cutting-edge technologies that will ensure a reduction in the consumption of potable water. These will significantly contribute to the preservation of natural resources through the adoption of Treated Sewage Effluent (TSE) water within its operations.

The architectural structure of the Za’abeel Plant Project embraces an iconic as well as a unique design that meets the highest of international standards. Ahmad bin Shafar confirmed that the architectural structure design of the plant also meets the standards of modern urban developments in Dubai as well as sustainable green buildings.
