Swissport Tanzania Plc plans to spend US$6.3m in the construction of a modern cargo facility at Julius Nyerere International Airport.
Swissport’s Board Chairman, Juan José Andrés Alvez, confirmed this and he said that the facility is expected to be completed by October this year and will start functioning immediately.

The aviation services company’s chairman added that the old cargo terminal will be turned into an export cargo facility, featuring a Perishable Export Centre with chillers and freezers able to process all different types of produce such as fish, meat, vegetables, flowers and medicines.

Swissport is the world’s largest provider of ground and cargo handling services in the aviation industry. The company provides ground services on behalf of some 700 companies and handles around 224 million passengers and 3.9 million flights per year.
