South Africa’s East Rand Galleria shopping center Undergoes Renovation

East Rand Galleria shopping center, owned by South Africa’s corporate real estate fund, is set to undergo a US $ 38.66m redesign and transformation to get a variety of retail shops. Food courts will also be introduced in the shopping center, while at the same time, improvements to the parking space will be made.

According to Broll Property Group, who has been appointed as the property manager and also helping in leasing the shopping center’s portfolio, the entire East Rand Galleria will be stripped out in order to be modernized.

The shopping center will have a new roof with insulation that helps improve energy efficiency, be more environment-friendly, and have new entrance points. The inside will have retail stores with 4m shop fronts, which is up to international standards.

There will be flow in the galleria so that the mall can seamlessly link with its environs, and it will be used efficiently so that it can still be attractive and relevant to investors.

The mall’s chilled water air conditioning system will be operated through a building management system. In addition, East Point will feature touchscreen directories and a fiber optic backbone for permanent WI-FI.

The whole project will take 18 months, after which the 45 000 m2 center that links to East Rand Mall, will be renamed East Point.

East Rand Mall in South Africa revamped

The East Rand Mall, in South Africa situated at the heart of Boksburg, has concluded a revamping process that has greatly increased the center’s offering to its pool of clients and customers. The center is located in an established, well-known and well-settled area that has diverse and convenient products and services and is highly accessible at the heart of the East Rand.

Petra Foord, the East Rand Mall’s GM, said that the center is targeting more shoppers from the region. Doing so remains the proffered choice of destination in the East Rand.

Elaborating on why the center needed a revamp, Foord said that the mall needed to get a modern look. More so, a visual appearance would give it more energy. Additionally, the mall needed a more competitive edge in a consumer market that is getting younger and more vibrant.

One of the most outstanding aspects of the revamp is that there will be no more need for people to move far because everything they require will be at their doorsteps. With this key revelation, Foord said that the mall will experience consistent growth, in both footfall and trading density.

“Our plan is to stay relevant in our times by offering the best service and safety in place. Our offerings will stay current with the times and needs. We look always to have a CSI community support initiative tied into our daily activities,” she added.

In conclusion, Foord added that the current leadership at the East Rand Mall is aware of the digital trend. Moreover, it is warming up to move forward with numerous digital offerings. He said they soon plan to roll out brand ambassador programs to enable shoppers to book the personalized items of an ambassador with shopping needs.
