Purple Moss is on the road to expansion, after successfully completing a number of complex concrete coring and drilling tasks at the toll structures on Gauteng’s freeways, by making use of an exclusive range of Diamond Products core barrels.
The task by Purple Moss, a concrete coring expert, was to drill holes on concrete toll gate structures (gantries) to allow passage of drainage lines and electrical conduit sleeves.
The diamond core barrels products used by Purple Moss were supplied by Diamond Products, a renowned supply of diamond tools and equipment for custom tasks. The drilling was to be carried out on 45 gantries.
The company required state-of-the-art diamond core barrels for the task that was to be completed within a specified duration, according to its managing director Martin Marks. The value of the company’s scope was about R300, 000, relating to drilling of gantries on the N1, N3, N12 and N21 routes located between Pretoria and Johannesburg.
Martin admitted to the challenges of the concrete drilling tasks saying, “Drilling through large concrete structures is a challenging task from the outset. However, this challenge is further compounded when undertaking the drilling just centimeters away from oncoming traffic, as concentration and awareness of the surrounding environment is essential at all times.”
The project was successfully completed.
