The National Prospecting, Mining, Trading and Polishing Company, ENDIAMA announced the commencement of the construction of a $718 million Diamond Museum through the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Diamond Company of Angola (ENDIAMA) Antonio Sumbula. He was speaking to the press at the end of a meeting held by the Commission on Social Policy of the Council of Ministers, chaired by the vice president, Manuel Vicente, where he presented the project, which was endorsed by the participants.

ENDIAMA boss pointed that the project entails the construction of a seven-storey building to monetize its museum, and installing the old Iron Palace, at Rainha Ginga Mbandi Street in downtown Luanda area. Mr. Sumbula commented that the massive project is intended to build a dynamic museum, which will address key issues raised by the universities and tell the story of the formation of diamonds in the kimberlites which are igneous rocks best known for sometimes containing diamonds.

The project which was recommended and approved by the Commission on Social Policy of the Council of Ministers, will also portray the erosion of kimberlites and show events that occurred thousands of years ago.
