The US African Development Foundation (USADF), in collaboration with GE Africa, is inviting proposals from entrepreneurs in Ghana who can provide innovative renewable energy solutions or off-grid energy proven technologies to boost economic activities in rural areas.

The entrepreneurs have a benefit package of US$100,000 granted in order to ensure increased access to reliable, affordable and sustainable power supply in deprived communities, as well as ensure responsible, transparent and effective management of energy resources.

The initiative is part of the US$ 2.4m Power Africa Project executed in Nigeria and Kenya to supply power to communities not served by the existing power grids.

Christoph Anagbonu, Managing Partner for Mensah JB & Associates, the local representative of USADF, explained that interested local businesses only need to make a business case for selection. He outlined further details about the implementation of the off-grid initiative, expected to add to the country’s energy mix to reducing poverty levels especially in the rural communities.

The proposal should be able to provide the off grid power to about 100-150 people Residing in the upcountry. Deadline for the proposals submission is 7th of July, which are to be reviewed within a week or two, and the best 3 proposals named. The winners will be granted an offer to embark on the activities.

The project will run for a period of one year where the US$100,000 funds will be disbursed.
